Net Price Calculator
This Net Price Calculator is designed to give only very rough estimates of the amount of grant and scholarship aid that you might receive as a freshman enrolling at MassArt. The data that the calculator uses is derived from the 2009-2010 academic year. Since that time, MassArt has made significant changes to financial aid policies and award practices, and has substantially increased the amount of grant and scholarship aid that is awarded.
In fall 2011, 57% of entering freshmen were awarded a total $1.6 million in grants and scholarships, a 95% increase over the amount awarded in fall 2009. The increase is not yet reflected in this estimate; for many (but not all) students, the amount of grant aid awarded would now be significantly higher. This is particularly true for out of state and New England students. The calculator also does not include all forms of financial aid you may be eligible to receive. Specifically, many students borrow and work to help with their cost of attendance.
MassArt awards merit only scholarships as well as need-based grants, in amounts ranging from $2000 to $10,000 a year, renewable for four years. A small number of four-year full tuition and fee scholarships are also awarded based on a combination of merit and need. All accepted applicants are reviewed for merit scholarships; no separate application is required.
We are working to update the net price estimator to more accurately reflect our current financial aid practices. We expect that an updated calculator will be available on this page by January 2012. Please return then to get a more current estimate of your net price for attending MassArt.
Please Note: The estimates above apply to full-time, first-time degree-seeking undergraduate students only. To be considered for the maximum financial aid available, you should file your FAFSA after January 1 but before March 1. These calculations do not include MassArt Foundation Scholarships and other outside scholarships.
Price of attendance figures are estimates which include books, living expenses and other educational costs. If you are living at home, your net price will be lower than what is estimated.
These estimates do not represent a final determination, or actual award, of grant assistance or a final net price; they are only estimates based on the price of attendance and financial aid provided to students in 2009-10. Price of attendance and available financial aid changes from year to year. These estimates shall not be binding on the federal Secretary of Education, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts or MassArt.
In 2009-10, 40% of our full-time students enrolling for college for the first time received grant/scholarship aid. Students may also be eligible for student loans and work-study. Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to determine their eligibility for federal financial aid as well as aid from other sources. For more information on applying for financial aid, go to http://www.fafsa.ed.gov.
All students are encouraged to complete the FAFSA in order to be considered for aid at Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
