Student Health Services, administered by Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates (HVMA), is located on the second floor of the MassArt New Residence Hall, and is open during the academic year Monday-Friday, 9am-6pm.
MassArt students also have access to medical care at Harvard Vanguard's Kenmore practice (133 Brookline Avenue, across from Landmark Center) when Student Health Services is not open. This includes weekday mornings from 8:00-9:00 a.m., weekday evenings from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., and Sundays and holidays from 12:00-5:00 p.m. Please call 617-879-5220 to schedule an appointment.
Students are strongly encouraged to register as a patient with Harvard Vanguard before their first appointment. Please call 800-249-1767 to register. Please identify yourself as a MassArt student and have your health insurance information (i.e. insurance card) available.
Harvard Vanguard will bill students' insurance plans for all services rendered. Students must present their MassArt student ID cards and their health insurance cards at every appointment, just as they do when accessing their doctor's office at home.
Harvard Vanguard Student Health Services respects student confidentiality under the HIPAA laws. No health information is released to parents or college staff without the student's written authorization unless required by law or unless it is a life-threatening situation.
All incoming MassArt students (first-years, transfer and graduate students) are required to have immunizations on file with the college per Massachusetts state law. If students have not yet done so, they must bring documentation of their immunization records to the Counseling and Wellness Center in the Kennedy building (2nd floor).
Medical advice is also available to students during times when neither Student Health Services nor the Harvard Vanguard Kenmore practice are open. This can be accessed by dialing the main Health Services phone number: 617-879-5220.
In the case of a life-threatening emergency, students should immediately call MassArt Public Safety at 617-879-7800.
