The New Residence Hall for Massachusetts College of Art and Design was conceived with the collaborative input of students, faculty and the neighboring community, as a refreshing, artful and sustainable building along the Avenue of the Arts. It will house primarily first year and sophomore students in a suite-style layout in single, double and triple bedrooms with suite-shared bathrooms. The College is committed to building a creative and social on-campus learning environment within this residence hall. Public areas include workrooms, a first floor Café/lounge, and a lobby with 24 hour security. The second floor will be the Student Health Center operated by Harvard Vanguard of Massachusetts and will be shared by MassArt, WIT and MCPHS. The third floor is called the "Pajama Floor" and will host many community building activities. This floor includes a game room / TV Lounge, group study rooms, laundry and fitness room, vending area and a community kitchen. Other amenities include, central air conditioning, wireless internet access, telephone/voice mail and basic cable service. Students residing in the New Residence Hall will be required to have the Regular meal plan.

The New Residence Hall is staffed with a live-in Residence Hall Director, a Graduate Assistant and trained student Resident Assistants who provide support for the residence hall community while managing a successful program of activities and events. The live-in staff will also report building or maintenance issues and respond to emergency situations.
