Academic Regalia Rental
It is strongly advised that Faculty members who wish to march in the procession at the commencement exercise wear proper academic regalia. The Art Supply and Bookstore handles all regalia rental.
If you have previously rented regalia through the Art Supply and Bookstore, your information is already on file and you will only need to call and confirm a re-order by March 19. Contact manager Josee Gendron with any questions you may have at 617 739 4770.
New faculty or staff who need to rent academic regalia should complete an order form in the Art Supply and Bookstore by March 19. Late orders are subject to an additional $40 shipping charge.
NOTE: All faculty members participating onstage must wear, and are responsible for their own, academic regalia. You may bring your regalia to the 11th floor, Tower building, within the week of May 17 and have it hung so that it is ready for assembly on the morning of the event.
Faculty members will be called when their regalia arrive. Orders will be available for pickup in the Art Supply and Bookstore between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. until commencement day. It is recommended that your regalia be picked up early enough so that you have an opportunity to hang it and remove some of the wrinkling that occurrs during shipment.
All regalia may be returned to the Art Supply and Bookstore immediately following the ceremony. The final deadline date for returns is 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 26.
Grade/Incompletes
The Registrar has informed us that all incompletes must be turned in by March 19, 2010, in order for them to be processed before commencement. Final grades/approval must be turned in by May 24, 2010, to allow students to graduate.
Commencement Day
Faculty members who are part of the Platform Party (onstage) will robe on the 11th floor, Tower building, beginning at 12:15 p.m. A commencement volunteer will organize the Platform Party for assembly and escort them down to the procession line at 12:45 p.m.
Assembly for non-platform faculty members and staff will begin at 12:30 p.m. on the upper level (UL) of the Tower building.
When you reach your chair at the commencement site, please remain standing until the entire procession has filed in and you are instructed to sit by the academic vice president.
Upon completion of the ceremony, the Platform Party will be first to exit followed by faculty and staff as announced by the academic vice president. All graduates will follow the faculty and staff.
After the ceremony, MassArt will be hosting a reception with light refreshments in Evans Way park. Faculty members are encouraged to meet and greet with students and their families.
